We finished reading Peter Nimble and His Fantastic Eyes, which my son absolutely loved, and we kind of struggled for a few days to find a book that piqued his interest. Finally, I asked my husband for suggestions and he said how he really liked The Indian In The Cupboard. So we gave it a shot, and from the first night of reading, my son was hooked. The story revolves around a young boy, Omri, discovering the powers of a magical cupboard that turns toys into real living beings, specifically a toy Iroquois Indian plastic figure. We are about 3/4 of the book through and I have a feeling a little someone is going to want a sequel when we are done. What I liked were the character growth, the tension and test of friendship, and forgiveness. What my son liked was the humor.
Have you ever read The Indian In The Cupboard? What would you recommend next for our bedtime books? Let me know!
